What is Zest UK?

Zest is an independent membership club. At Zest we are passionate about people trying new experiences and participating in a variety of fun and exciting leisure activities.

Zest gives you the opportunity to "make the most of your time", try dozens of exciting activities and events each month and gives you the chance to meet lots of like-minded people.

Why do people join Zest?

  • • To take part in new experiences and face new challenges.
  • • To meet new people and make new friends.
  • • To receive special discounts which have been arranged between Zest and various prestigious retailers, holiday companies etc.
  • • To gain easy access to a range of pursuits that may be difficult for you to organise for yourself.

The most common reason that members join Zest is a wish to meet others of a similar age and outlook, whilst participating in activities that are pro-active and fun!

Arranging a truly exciting and diverse lifestyle is difficult, in fact some activities are unavailable to you, as the Providers do not accept bookings from the public or individuals.

At Zest we provide an endless variety of leisure pursuits for you to enjoy and we deal with all the organisational problems on your behalf!

We’ll do our very best to look after you and ensure that activities are fun, safe and provide fantastic experiences that you can’t wait to tell your friends about!

Who Joins Zest?

Zest is two clubs in one, offering both Adult and Family membership options! We have an Adult section and a Family section, each with its own calendar of events.

Zest Adult is a club for adults of any age, from all walks of life, be they single, couples or groups of friends. They are people just like you who want to try something different, have a good time and maybe even make some new friends!

Zest Family is a unique opportunity for families to try all the activities that the adult section does whilst socialising with other families. As far as we are aware Zest is the only club in the UK offering organised social activities for families.

Membership may be especially appealing to single parent families who want to enjoy amazing experiences together but also enjoy the company of other adults!

Zest Family could be equally appealing to an absent parent; looking for something more exciting to do than taking the kids for a burger or to the movies at the weekend.

All the activities are run in a safe and non-competitive way, giving you and your family the chance to really benefit from the time you spend together. We have special membership rates for family groups so join today – the kids will really thank you for it!

What does Zest offer?

The widest possible range of fun, adventurous, sporting and social events. Activities are offered at different levels, from beginners upwards.

Our Activity Calendars are updated constantly and contain up to twenty different activities each week. You simply choose as few or as many as you wish.

Events are competitively priced and many are unique to Zest.

How do I join Zest?

How do I get free Membership and how does that work?

To take advantage of our free membership offer is really easy, it’s all about introducing your friends. All you have to do is encourage your friends to join and you will receive one month’s free membership for each new member you refer. Your friend also receives a free month and a half price joining fee – everybody benefits!

There is no limit to how many friends you can introduce, so you could enjoy free membership for a year or more.

Why do Zest charge a Joining Fee?

Your joining fee covers the considerable administration costs associated with processing a new membership.

For your money you receive a membership pack, a membership card, access to the members only section of the website, the many discounts only available to Zest members, and immediate access to all the events and activities we are currently offering. We try to keep this cost to a minimum but it is a necessary evil!

What does my membership fee pay for?

  • • An experienced Staff team working to arrange activities, liaise with Providers, take bookings and offer advice.
  • • Regular newsletters and e-mails including the Activity Calendars and Member Bulletins
  • • £5 million pounds of Public Liability insurance
  • • Training for professional qualifications to help us offer even more
  • • Advertising to grow the Club for everyone’s benefit

Is there a minimum length of Membership?

NO! You can terminate your membership at any time and without penalty. All we ask for one month’s written notice to cancel membership. If you wish to re-join at a later stage you would, of course, have to pay the joining fee again.

How does your Discount Partners Scheme work?

Zest has negotiated exclusive discounts with many prestigious suppliers and retailers in the leisure industry. Simply by being a member of Zest you can take advantage of these discounts by using your Membership card or quoting your membership number. The discounts offered can easily cover the cost of your membership and it is definitely possible for you to be a Zest member, never take part in any activities or events and still save money!

We offer free marketing space on our website for our Partners to offer discounts to members.

If you are a local supplier and would like to join our Discount Partners, please contact the office. The service is free of charge and we can give you a link from our website to yours. All that we ask is that the discount you offer is genuinely exclusive to Zest members.

What if I lose my Membership card?

Your card is very important and must be kept safe. It contains your membership number and will be used to identify you when you attend events. You will also need to show it in order to take advantage of offers made by our Discount Partners.

The membership card remains, at all times, the property of Zest. If you lose your card we can issue you with another. We have to cancel the first one, assign you a new membership number and send out a replacement card. The card for this is £10 - it is everyone’s interest that you look after your card!

I have Family Membership, can I attend Adult events?

Yes! The idea of Family Membership is that you join in order to spend some real quality time enjoying great experiences with your children and other families. However, sometimes you may want to attend Adult events and that is positively encouraged!

Just make sure that you check the Adult and Family calendars to keep up to date with what events are planned, get a babysitter and come and join the grown ups!

I have Adult Membership can I attend Family events?

Not really, and we can’t think why you would want to! All the activities that we offer for families are also offered for adults, but without children involved. If there is a particular event that you want to attend, please call the Zest office to discuss it.

Is there a limit to how many children can join under a Family Membership?

No, as long as they are your children! It is very common these days that couples may have children from previous relationships; if you are a parent or step parent to those children then of course they can join under your membership. You may not however register your children’s friends, neighbours kids, etc. We are not a youth club and you must always accompany your children on any activity and remain responsible for them for the duration of that activity.

Where are the activities?

Zest is a Lancashire based organisation and events could be offered anywhere in the county. We try to reflect the needs of our members and so will endeavour to offer activities as close to home as possible, we also try to hold some similar events in different locations to allow everyone the chance to enjoy them. For some activities we have to go further afield, ie the Lake District for gorge walking or Yorkshire for caving; simply to offer you the very best experience!

Why shouldn’t I book the activities offered by Zest independently?

You can and, of course, people do. However, Zest will always offer its members activities, events and holidays at very reasonable prices, this means that for the most of our events, it will be cheaper for you to book through Zest. The other problem with booking independently is that some activities require minimum numbers of, say, 8+ in order to go ahead, which is often difficult for you to organise for yourself. Lastly, it is so much more fun to try something new with a group of people who are also novices!

Is it all about activities?

Definitley not! We have a great selection of social events every month for you to choose from. If you are looking to join a social club, have a varied social life and meet loads of new friends then Zest is the perfect solution for you.

How do I book events?

Once you have decided which event you wish to attend, just pick one of the following booking options:

What if I cannot attend an event ?

If you cannot attend an event that you have booked, simply call the office and we will do our very best to fill your place on that event – we have a 24hour answer phone available. We do require some notice for cancellations, please see our cancellation policy for full details.

How do you keep me informed of what’s going on?

We put all our events on the web, so that you can get event details and book events on-line through our secure on-line booking system. The website is updated constantly and is your best source of up to the minute news on new events, availability etc.

You will also receive a Zest newsletter from time to time. The newsletter reports on recent events, contains news features and includes information on upcoming events. It also includes the Activity Calendars so you can browse, choose and book your next events.

You will receive e-mails and Members’ bulletins about events and news that we feel may be of interest to you on an on-going basis and we also text members regularly with news of upcoming events.

There’s nothing on the calendar that appeals to me, can I suggest an activity/event?

Please do. If you’ve thought of something we haven’t, then chances are there are probably more people out there who would like to try it too. We are always trying to dream up new things for our members to do but, of course, we always want to offer activities that you want to do.

Simply contact the office by phone or email with your suggestion and we will try and arrange it for you and pop it on the calendar – we’ll try anything once!

Do I have to be super fit to participate in events?

Our members cover the whole range from complete beginner to expert - the majority are somewhere in between! The whole idea is for members to try new experiences in a non-threatening and friendly atmosphere and so most activities are aimed at the novice.

Having said that, we recognise some members want to develop their skills, so certain activities are offered at an intermediate or advanced level.

You will be sharing your experiences with other like-minded people and will gain the advantage of support from the group. All our instructors are fully qualified and used to calming the nerves of even the most timid - so that you have an enjoyable and fun day.

All activities are graded by an indicator which gives information on how strenuous the activity is likely to be. All our partners and instructors are extremely well qualified and experienced and will go at the pace of the slowest in the group.

Are the activities dependant on weather conditions?

Most activities are not dependant on fine weather. For some activities you will get so wet and dirty that a little bit of rain will only enhance the experience!

Some activities however would be to too dangerous or unpleasant to run if the weather is poor. Each activity description contains information on whether it is dependant on good conditions.

Can I bring children or dogs along to activities?

Zest Family is all about families and kids and so children are actively encouraged to participate!

Unfortunately, we do not allow children on any Adult activities – this is grown up time!

As a rule dogs are not permitted on activities, however there are some activities ie walks, where you may be able to bring your pouch (as long as he/she is well behaved and kept on a lead!) Please enquire at time of booking.

Can I bring a Friend?

You are very welcome to bring a guest to any event (non-member prices are displayed on all event descriptions), although if places are limited preference will always be given to Members.

Hopefully, your friend will enjoy the experience so much that they too will want to join. If you introduce a friend who subsequently joins Zest you and your friend will benefit from a month’s free Membership for each new Membership – introduce enough friends and, not only will you enjoy doing some amazing activities with your mates, you could enjoy free Membership!
